About Treewool
Treewool is a line of eco-friendly and vegan knitwear that is handmade in San Francisco.
My name is Kristen Blackmore, I am the designer and maker of Treewool. I am originally from Texas, but I moved to San Francisco 4 years ago to pursue a degree in fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. After graduating I did an internship and later took a job where I learned the ins and outs of designing patterns for hand knitters. At the time I was also learning to machine knit. Soon my love for all things knitwear could no longer be contained and thus Treewool was born!
I have been an ethical vegetarian for 6 years and vegan for 5 years. I love being vegan and have long been passionate about vegan and eco-friendly fashion and food.
Treewool is a slow fashion company that focuses on handmade knitwear without the use of animal fibers. All pieces are handmade on my Silver Reed SK280 knitting machine in my San Francisco home studio/kitchen. Careful attention to quality and detail is put into every piece; all seams are hand linked and finished, and all yarns and notions are consciously sourced with strong consideration given to the environment and workers.
Treewool garments and accessories are made with a West Coast spirit. Pieces are simple yet unique and designed to be layered for all types of climates and occasions.
